Now in his second spell with the club, Jay has quickly gathered a reputation for himself as one of the strongest goalkeepers in the league thanks to some impressive performances across his two spells at The Shire, culminating in being voted by his peers as The Shire’s Players’ Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season.
A product of the Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian and Falkirk youth academies, Jay spent his first few seasons in senior football featuring mostly as a substitute goalkeeper for Falkirk, Airdrieonians and Stenhousemuir.
The now 23-year old shot-stopper moved to fellow SLFL East side Gala Fairydean Rovers in July 2023, with an impressive campaign which saw the Edinburgh native keep 8 league clean sheets and earn a move to The Shire in July 2024. A brief departure back to Gala Fairydean Rovers was followed by a return to The Shire in July 2025, where Jay has since been Shire’s dependable number 1.
